With the online format, we worked hard to create an interactive and informative experience for our new and returning students this year.
A week of festivities were planned:
- Social media campaign was launched
- A Reddit AMA was held and
- A Canvas course was created
I formatted and created an asynchronous self-directed Canvas orientation course where students could self-enrol and learn more about key departmental information, learning opportunities, important resources and more. This was an opportunity to include departmental branding elements as well as experiment with UX/UI features of Canvas.
A Reddit AMA was also planned for the morning of Imagine Day. I helped moderate questions and post answers. Based on feedback from students, faculty and analytics, it was highly successful and a great learning experience.
A number of Instagram stories were created to post throughout the first week of school. To create a sense of community, interactions were prioritized as many of them were template that students could screenshot and repost. To follow a "back to school' theme, posts were made to look like student notes, including sticky notes and embellished with tape.
